At 7:00 am pick up from your hotel and drive to Battambang (170 km for 3 hours’ drive). Battambang is the second biggest city in Cambodia, however, it remains calm and the atmosphere truly brings you back to the French colonial era. It’s also known as the “rice bowl” of the country. The rice production of this province alone is enough to make Cambodia self-sufficient in terms of food. Arrive in Battambang around 10:00 am, and take the city tour orientation along the Steung Sangké River and the colonial buildings including the governor’s house. Continuing to the striking hilltop temples of Phnom Sampeau & Phnom Banan, this massive limestone outcrop is dissected by a number of caves some more accessible than others, with some containing unexpected reminders of Cambodia’s history. Enjoy the bamboo train ride at Phnom Banan to experience how Cambodian farmers create bamboo trains for daily transport. Picnic lunch on the spot, Drive back to Battambang along the Steng Sangké, the area grows a variety of tropical fruits and after the rainy season, farmers plant all kinds of vegetables along the fertile river banks, here you can learn about traditional agriculture. Return back to Siem Reap, the tour ends at your hotel around 18:00.
