Around 9:00 am, pick up from your hotel in Phnom Penh and drive to Sambor Preikuk (190km). On the way stop at Skun village where the villagers from this area sell fried spiders (tarantula), scorpions, silkworms, water beetle, crickets, and many varieties of fruits. Arrive in Kampong Thom at noon; lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit the world heritage site of Sambor Preikuk which UNESCO concluded in July 2017. The site was once an old capital named Isanapura and a religious center for the worship of Shiva Brahmanism. Many temples were built in Sambo Preikuk including Prasat Sambor, Prasat Yeaypean, and Prasat Tao (The Lion Temple). Transfer to the village and check in at the villager’s house where you spend the rest of your day with them, helping them cook, cleaning, and interacting with people in the village. Dinner with family and overnight at homestay in the village.
Breakfast at the homestay and depart for Siem Reap (180km). On the way, visit Kampong Kdei Bridge, which was the Angkorian Bridge, along the ancient highway from Angkor to Wat Pho in Laos today. Continue for another 45 minutes to Kampong Khleang, the largest fishing community on the great Lake Tonlé Sap, to visit the stilt houses, the fishing method, smoked fish production, the floating village, etc… Kampong Kleang is an authentic fishing village, located at 45 km from Siem Reap, the village is full of 4 - 5-meter stilt houses including over 10000 inhabitants. Experience the daily life of fishermen on the lake of Tonle Sap. Arrive in Siem Reap in the afternoon, and check in at the hotel.
