West of Phnom Penh is where you'll find the province of Kampong Speu. It has boundaries with Koh Kong to the west, Kampot and Takeo to the south, Kampong Chhnang and Pursat to the north, and Phnom Penh to the east. The province covers 7,017 square kilometers of land. The geography varies, with upland forested parts, lowland/upland mosaics in the west, and a sizable tract of lowland paddy fields in the east. The Phnom Aural, which rises to a height of 1,813 meters, is the tallest mountain in Cambodia and is situated in this province's far north.
