ខេត្តធំទី ៣ របស់ប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ហើយមានរាជធានីនៃខេត្តដែលមានឈ្មោះដូចគ្នាគឺ កំពង់ចាម។ខេត្តនេះស្ថិតនៅភាគខាងកើតនៃប្រទេសកម្ពុជាមានព្រំប្រទល់ជាប់ខេត្តដូចជា៖ ភាគឦសានជាប់ខេត្តក្រចេះ ខាងកើតជាប់វៀតណាម ខាងត្បូងជាប់ព្រៃវែង ខាងលិចជាប់ខេត្តកំពង់ឆ្នាំង និងកំពង់ធំ ខាងលិចឆៀងខាងជើង។ ដោយសារតែមានទីតាំងល្អជាមួយនឹងទន្លេមេគង្គដ៏ខ្លាំងដែលហូរកាត់ខេត្តទាំងមូល កំពង់ចាមមិនសូវមានការភ័យខ្លាចចំពោះការផ្គត់ផ្គង់ទឹកទេ។ខេត្តកំពង់ចាមមានចម្ងាយ១២៤គ.មពីភ្នំពេញ។
The third largest province in Cambodia and the capital of the same-named province is Kampong Cham. This province is located in the eastern heart of Cambodia bordering the following provinces: Kratie to the Northeast, Vietnam to the East, Prey Veng to the South, Kampong Chhnang to the West, and Kampong Thom to the Northwest. Due to its advantageous location with the mighty Mekong flowing through the whole province, Kampong Cham has not had much to fear in the water supply.

The Khmer custom of betrothal, which is still practiced today between men and women, has a history in Phnom Srey, where the losing party is required to be betrothed by the winning party. There is a site of worship on the mountain that is densely forested underneath Phnom Pros Phnom Srey's entrance.
